Polaris’ Cody Crocker has just completed a clean sweep at round two of the ARC Side By Side Challenge in W.A. Crocker and fellow Australian Rally Champion Co-Driver Greg Foletta remain undefeated, following on from their top podium finish at Rally Calder in March.
Initial helicopter footage from the Quit Forest Rally WA can be seen at:
"The Quit Forest Rally was our first real forest rally event for the Polaris RZR XP and it didn’t disappoint, we had a perfect run without any issues and it is great to see another Polaris 1,2,3” said Crocker.
“While the others stumbled with flat tyres and off-road excursions, Greg Foletta managed to keep me on track on all of the 13 stages making up the event. As always, Greg did a sterling job of calling the pacenotes. While it’s easy to be a passenger and enjoy the ride, it takes an extra level of skill to be able to call the notes to keep us on pace for close to 200 competitive kilometres.”
“Both days consisted of fast open stages combined with very narrow forest tracks; one minute we’re flying along wide open roads stretching the RZR to over 100km/h, the next we were climbing up fire trails and jumping over washouts, a perfect way to explore all the capabilities of the RZR. What a way to enjoy some of Australia’s countryside, it’s hard to beat.”
Polaris’ second driver combination of James and Warren Shipp, pulled off a stunning driving performance, giving Polaris Sidchrome Racing the runner up trophy in only its second rally. “I’m still on my L plates! I can’t believe we just did that this weekend,” said 17 year old driver James Shipp.
“The success of Polaris Sidchrome Racing proves how accessible this new form of motorsport is. Amateur drivers on a very modest budget can get on the podium in an elite level national event,” said Polaris Marketing Manager Neil Anderson.
Taking the third step on the podium were NSW Privateers Nathan and Les Chivers - who have earned their stripes in RZR Racing for years at Kharnacross and CCDA events. That experience is now bearing fruit at a national level, with them taking a tight grip on third place for the year.
Right from the beginning, Polaris and Can-Am have stated their opposition to cheque-book racing. CAMS are enforcing the rules, and as a result, all three Polaris RZR teams that hold the podium positions have race ready vehicles at a fraction of the cost of many other motorsports. This factor is attracting the interest of enthusiasts from motorsports as diverse as Rally, V8 Supercars, V8 Brutes, 4X4, Quad Bike and Motorcycle Racing.
This new sport of SxS Racing has grown from the efforts of passionate Polaris RZR owners in other motorsports, such as the Australian Off Road Championship, Karnacross, Navrun and Cross Country Drivers Association events.
